How we make sure we are inviting our patients for important health checks and vaccines
If you have a long-term condition such as Diabetes or Asthma, you will receive an invitation to book your annual review with the practice during your birthday month. If you are eligible for a certain vaccine we will send you an invite at the appropriate time of year, or when you become eligible. We also invite our patients for NHS health checks and medication reviews.
The messages or letters that go out will tell you what sort of appointment you need. These often have funny names such as ‘Recall X’ or ‘Recall DX’. Although it sounds a bit confusing, our team will know which appointment you need.
We try and send invitations via text as we are a ‘Greener Practice’ and mindful of our environmental impact. We send text messages with a link to our appointment system. You follow the instructions as you go. You will be offered the correct appointment for your condition. You will have the option to select different dates and check for a convenient appointment. We offer appointments several weeks in advance so do check through all the available dates.
If no appointments show as available, please do not worry. We will send you another invite soon when more appointments become available, or when we receive more vaccine.
If you need to contact us at the reception desk, or by telephone, our reception team can see what appointment you require and will arrange it for you. For routine check-up appointments we advise you to telephone after 11 am as often the telephone lines are busy in the morning with people requiring urgent appointments.
Different conditions require different tests. A blood test appointment is required for most conditions, and this will include a mini-health screen which will include your height, weight, pulse check, blood pressure, and lifestyle information. For diabetic patients you will also be offered a foot check as ensuring good circulation to your feet is essential to maintaining your good health. If appropriate to your condition, you will be offered an annual review discussion with a Practice Nurse.
You are responsible for your own health. If you know you have a health condition and you haven’t had a check-up please contact the surgery in your birthday month. You do not have to wait for us to contact you.
If you are not sure when you last had a check-up, download the NHS app. You can see your medical history, previous appointments and order medications using the NHS app.
